NILE CRUISE TOUR BASICS
In our experience, most tourists to Egypt include a Nile cruise tour in their program. Here’s what you need to know to help your clients book a Nile cruise.
Usually, a Nile cruise is one piece of a longer Egypt tour. Most Nile cruises are 3 or 4 nights, traveling one way in either direction between Luxor and Aswan in southern Egypt (also known as Upper Egypt).
Flights between Cairo and Luxor are approximately 1 hour and between Cairo and Aswan about 1.5 hours, with Egypt Air. We include these domestic flights, and private airport transfers in all of our published Nile cruise tours.
Cruises include meals and shared, daily shore excursions. Our clients can have a private guide escort them on their Nile cruise for a supplement.
(All of our overland, hotel-based touring in Egypt is privately escorted by an Egyptologist tour guide and a driver. Nile cruise shore excursions are conducted in groups unless a private guide is prearranged with Ya’lla Tours.)
Cruise vessels have 50 cabins on average, all outside facing and usually with large, panoramic windows. Some Nile cruises have cabins with balconies. Many cruises have only a shower stall in the bathroom but there are some that have bathtubs. Onboard facilities include a dining room, a lounge, a sundeck, a small pool and a small gift shop. Internet access is available for a fee. Travelers should understand that Nile cruises are not like the large destination cruise ships with a great many activities onboard.

NILE CRUISE TOUR SHORE EXCURSIONS
In Luxor, shore excursion sites include Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple.

Between Luxor and Aswan, shore excursions are usually at the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo.

In Aswan, Nile cruise shore excursions include the Aswan High Dam, the Temple of Isis (Philae), and a felucca ride (traditional sailboat)

The scheduled touring on a Nile cruise is well paced, leaving plenty of time to lounge on deck and watch the timeless scenery slip by.

We offer a variety of published programs that include a Nile cruise. Or, contact us to customize a program around a Nile cruise.
