Only fifty years ago, this gleaming metropolis was a low-rise village on the edge of the Arabian Desert. Most people lived as their ancestors had done, scrapping a meager living from the sea and inland oases.
Then came oil, independence and unity. Oil was discovered in 1958, independence from Britain in 1971, and unity with neighboring emirates came in 1971 & 1972. Our mystery city is the capital of those 7 United Arab Emirates.
Crude oil and natural gas made the city an economic powerhouse. Today’s diversifying economy shows steady growth in real estate, banking, tourism and manufacturing.
Some of the sites to see in our mystery city are the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre, the Falcon Hospital, and Ferrari World and a Formula 1 circuit at Yas Island.

Can you name that city?
