Among our best-selling Egypt tours, Deluxe Tour of Egypt covers all the must-see sites in Egypt. The overland portion of this tour is privately escorted, as with all of our Egypt tours, while touring during the Nile cruise is done in small groups. If travelers would like their private guide to accompany them on the Nile cruise, this can be done with a supplement.
As of this writing, Deluxe Tour of Egypt begins weekly in Cairo on Fridays and Saturdays. As with all of our tours, Day 1 of the tour is simply an arrival day, with private airport transfers. On Days 2 and 3, we explore the wonders of ancient Egypt beginning with prototypes of the Giza pyramids, the Step Pyramid at Sakkara and the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid at Dahshur. Then, the pièce de résistance, the pyramids at Giza. Words can’t capture the thrill of catching a first glimpse of these iconic monuments appearing, disappearing and appearing again between buildings on the drive to Giza. Walking among them and the nearby Great Sphinx is another level of thrill altogether.
Day 3 is spent at the Egyptian Museum among the colossal statues and mummies and then exploring Old Cairo, also known as Coptic Cairo, with the city’s oldest Coptic Churches, first synagogue and oldest mosque. (Please note that the sequence of touring in Cairo will change with the opening of the new Grand Egyptian Museum on the Giza Plateau set to happen in 2021.)
Then we fly down to Luxor for a 4-night Nile cruise. Cruise boats on the Nile are small river boats with 50 or 60 cabins. Cabins all have river views, most with panoramic windows and some with balconies. Nile cruises come with three amble meals a day and daily tour excursions. Cruises travel between Luxor and Aswan, known as Upper Egypt, despite being in the south of the country, because it is closer to the headwaters of the Nile, which is one of the few rivers that runs south to north. Site visits from the cruise include the Karnak Temple, pharaonic tombs in the Valley of the Kings, and the funerary temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut. After disembarking from the cruise in Aswan, we include a tour to the awesome but remote temples at Abu Simbel. This involves a flight of about 45 minutes each way, also included in the overall tour price. Once at Abu Simbel, our travelers meet a local guide and spend about an hour before flying back to Aswan and connecting to Cairo for one more night. The last day of the tour is for departure only, no touring. Travelers are transferred in a private car to the airport and assisted in check-in by a Ya’lla Tours representative.
