This highlight of Upper Egypt is featured in most of our Egypt tours. The site is located in the Theban necropolis on the west bank of the Nile River across from the city of Luxor (ancient Thebes).
The elegant, terraced design of the building is quite different from other ancient structures in the Nile Valley. It was built for a female pharaoh, one of only a few, who reigned for 20 years in the 15th century BCE. (Hint: if you know the name of the pharaoh, you’re most of the way to knowing the name of the site.) During her successful reign, she expanded trade and ordered many construction projects.
Here are a few of our Egypt tours that include this site: Deluxe Tour of Egypt, Crown of Egypt, Ultimate Egypt.
Can you name that site?
