This city on the Arabian Peninsula is known for record breaking achievements and innovation in architecture and real estate development. It rose from a small port city to a major, international economic-engine and world-class tourist destination in just a few decades. Some of the city’s achievements include the world’s tallest building, the world’s largest shopping mall, the world’s most luxurious hotel, a manmade island in the shape of a palm tree… One of the city’s newest world records is the world’s tallest building in the shape of a frame. Is there a lot of competition for that title? I wonder.

The city is currently developing the site of the Expo 2020 World Fair, which was rescheduled due to Covid-19 to October 1, 2021–March 31, 2022. With nearly 200 country and theme pavilions, over 200 restaurants, and 60+ live shows every day, it’s already claiming the title for largest event ever in the Arab world. What other records will Expo 2020 break? Knowing its host city, there are certainly more to come.

Can you name that city?
