An Egypt cruise on the Nile is a major highlight on most tourist visits to Egypt. Most of our published Egypt tours include a Nile cruise. A typical Nile cruise travels in 3 or 4 nights from Luxor to Aswan in Upper (southern) Egypt, or visa versa. Cruise vessels are river boats, usually with 50-70 cabins, all exterior facing. Nile cruises include three full meals each day and shore excursions.

LUXOR

LUXOR TEMPLE

Luxor Temple and the Karnak Temple complex are in Luxor city on the east bank of the Nile.

KARNAK TEMPLE

VALLEY OF THE KINGS

On the west bank of the Nile near Luxor, the Valley of the Kings is a royal necropolis hidden in the dusty hills. Over 60 tombs have been discovered to date. A typical visit to the Valley of the Kings includes entrance to three tombs.

MORTUARY TEMPLE OF HATSHEPSUT AT DEIR EL-BAHARI

Also on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor, this temple was built for the female pharaoh, Hatshepsut.

EDFU

The next stop after Luxor is Edfu, home of the Temple of Horus, one of the best preserved ancient temples in Egypt.

KOM OMBO

The riverside Temple at Kom Ombo is dedicated to two gods, Horus, the falcon-headed sky god, and Sobek, the crocodile-headed god of the Nile.

ASWAN

An Egypt cruise on the Nile river either begins or ends at Aswan, a city in the far south of Egypt.
At Aswan, cruise passengers visit the Temple of Isis, also known as Philae Temple, which stands on an island in the river.
