Among our published Egypt tours, Taste of Egypt (8 nights/9 days) is the most popular for travelers who do not want a Nile cruise. Taste of Egypt is the sister to our most popular program, Deluxe Tour of Egypt. Both tours cover all the same sites, but Taste of Egypt uses hotels and a private van between Luxor and Aswan in the Nile Valley, rather than a cruise.
For practically the same price, travelers get a fully private program, escorted from start to finish by their own private guide. (On Nile cruises, touring from the cruise is done in small groups. Travelers have the option of paying a supplement to bring a private guide with them on the cruise.)
Two full days of touring in the Cairo area include visits to Giza, site of the country’s most famous pyramids and sphinx; and Dahshur and Sakkara to see less famous but still impressive pyramids that are even older than those at Giza. Visits in Cairo proper include sites in Old Cairo (Medieval Period), the Egyptian Museum and Khan el Khalili Bazaar.
On day four, travelers fly to Aswan for 2 nights and two full days of touring. Touring in the Aswan area includes a felucca sailboat ride on the Nile, the Philae Temple of Isis and the Aswan High Damn. From Aswan, we make a roundtrip flight to see the twin temples of Abu Simbel overlooking Lake Nasser near Egypt’s southern border.
On day six, we head north along the Nile in our private van for two nights in Luxor, stopping on the way to visit the Temple of Sobek at Kom Ombo and the Temple of Horus at Edfu.
In Luxor on day seven, we visit some of the biggest highlights of the tour: Karnak Temple, Hatshepsut Temple and Valley of the Kings!
After more Luxor area touring on day 8, we fly back to Cairo for overnight at a hotel near the airport.
