Crowned \u201c<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/travel\/article\/jordan-visit\/index.html\"><strong>the Middle East\u2019s most easygoing country<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u201d by CNN, Jordan is as world-renowned for its hospitality as for its ancient ruins. Whether you are exploring the desert on camelback, luxuriating at a Dead Sea spa, or simply enjoying the country\u2019s culture and cuisine, Jordanians will be eager to make you feel like family.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4434\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4434\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4434 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/dead-sea.jpg\" alt=\"the Dead Sea\" width=\"600\" height=\"433\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4434\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">the Dead Sea<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Back in October, just weeks after Hamas attacked Israel, the Jordan Tourism Board <a href=\"https:\/\/www.traveldailymedia.com\/jordan-tourists-show-its-open-safe-to-visit\/\">shared<\/a> videos of tourists in destination. A British traveler commented, <strong>\u201cEveryone\u2019s been super friendly\u2026 the Dead Sea didn\u2019t feel unsafe, it was calm.\u201d<\/strong> The managing director of the board stated, \u201cWe understand that tensions around the world can raise concerns, but <strong>we believe in the power of travel to foster understanding and build bridges between nations.<\/strong> As always, the Jordan Tourism Board is here to assist and support tourists in making the most of their visit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite these assurances, flight bookings to <em>all regions of the world<\/em> slumped in the aftermath of October 7<sup>th<\/sup>. Countries neighboring Israel and highly dependent on tourism, such as Egypt and Jordan, were the worst affected.<\/p>\n<p>In December, a Cairo-based travel consultant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/11\/30\/travel\/tourism-israel-jordan-lebanon-egypt.html\">told the New York Times<\/a>, \u201c<strong>We foresaw the Middle East evolving into the \u2018New Europe\u2019<\/strong> with the Iran-Saudi Arabia rapprochement and Saudi Arabia\u2019s integration into the tourism system. We all hope that this war does not escalate and shatter the hopes that people \u2014 Arabs, Israelis and Iranians alike \u2014 have been holding onto.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4432\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4432\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4432 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/wadi-rum.jpg\" alt=\"Wadi Rum\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4432\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wadi Rum<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4433\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4433\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/wadi-rum-camp.jpg\" alt=\"Wadi Rum camp\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4433\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wadi Rum camp<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Their hopes are not unfounded. The U.N. reported that the number of visitor arrivals to the Middle East from January to July 2023 was up 20% compared to the same period in 2019, making the Middle East <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>only region in the world to surpass pre-pandemic levels of tourism.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A tour guide in Jordan once <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/travel\/2010\/sep\/04\/jordan-nature-parks-eco-tourism\">told The Guardian<\/a>, <strong>\u201cSince the 1980s, tourism has changed life here. Before, there was no school, no TV, and women had to ask permission to leave the house. Now they go to university.\u201d <\/strong>Tourism contributes between 12 and 26% of total earnings from abroad in Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon. Feynan and Dana were almost lost to mining. But the minerals would have soon run out. Eco-tourism is more valuable,\u201d<\/strong> said a former director of <a href=\"https:\/\/wildjordancenter.com\/\">Wild Jordan<\/a>, an offshoot of the RSCN (Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature) responsible for eco-tourism and socio-economic projects that support the rural communities.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4442\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4442\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4442 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/dana-biosphere-reserve.jpg\" alt=\"Dana Biosphere Reserve\" width=\"600\" height=\"390\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4442\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dana Biosphere Reserve<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cJordan is <strong>a massively underrated destination for family travel<\/strong>, especially for more adventurous and outdoorsy groups. The country has no shortage of open spaces to run, hike, or cycle, alongside fully accessible ancient ruins to explore. As a bonus, Arab tradition usually calls for big families and lots of dedicated family time, so there\u2019s no lack of activities for children of all ages.
