The &#8220;sea&#8221; is actually a fresh water lake, known in Israel as Kinneret. Although Jesus grew up in Nazareth, which is in the Galilee region but not on the lake, much of his teaching focused on the communities around the lake.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The top 3 Christian sites to visit there are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">CAPERNAUM<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1706\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/capernaumx2-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/capernaumx2-2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/capernaumx2-2-600x214.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/capernaumx2-2-768x274.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After leaving his hometown of Nazareth, Jesus made Capernaum, on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, the center of his ministry. The Gospels tell many stories of Jesus teaching and healing there. Today, you can see the remains of a 4th-century synagogue, which stands on top of an earlier synagogue that is likely the one where Jesus preached. Also in Capernaum, the remains of Peter&#8217;s House and the 5th-century church built around it can be viewed through the glass floor of the modern church built over the site. The tradition that the house belonged to Peter (the disciple of Jesus also known as Simon) goes back to the middle of the 1st century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">TABGHA<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1708\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/tabghax2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/tabghax2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/tabghax2-600x214.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.yallatours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/tabghax2-768x274.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The feeding of the 5000 with 2 fishes and 5 loaves of bread, known as the Miracle of the Multiplication, is traditionally believed to have taken place at Tabgha on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee. The modern Chuch of the Multiplication is built on the remains of two Byzantine churches and incorporates some fine 5th-century mosaics, including one of 2 fishes and a basket of bread.
