Rhodes
(Tour is approximately 8 hours long.)
You will be met at the port by your private guide to begin your tour. Start with a visit to the famous Valley of the Butterflies, a shady valley with a small river running through, forming little lakes. On the branches of the trees sit millions of golden-red butterflies. Touching a branch sends the butterflies into the air, all at once, like a cloud. This unique spectacle can only be enjoyed in the summer, from June to September. However, no matter what time of the year you visit this valley it is always beautiful.
Continue to Lindos along the east coast of the Island, passing through varied landscapes dotted with villages. Stop at the village of Archangelos for a demonstration of handmade pottery.
At Lindos, visit the acropolis, including the Great Stoa, the Temple of Athena Lindia, the ancient theater and the remains of the Temple of Dionysus. Continue through the picturesque village with its traditional architecture and decorated houses, many dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries. Finally, visit the Medieval church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, with recently restored icons and frescoes.
You will be transferred back to the port to rejoin your cruise.
