HAIFA-JERUSALEM-ASHDOD
DAY 1 - Haifa to Jerusalem
You will be met at the port in Haifa by your private guide. Drive to Megiddo, the "Hill of Battles," where archaeologists have uncovered 20 civilizations built one upon another. At this site, King Solomon built his vast stables and good King Josiah died in battle. Enjoy the view over the peaceful Jezreel Valley. Take a boat on the Sea of Galilee to see the Genosar Boat, a 1st century fishing boat discovered in 1986 when the lake receded to record low levels. Lunch on route. Continue to Capernaum where Jesus preached and his disciples Peter and Andrew made their homes. Continue to the Mount of Beatitudes and visit the Church of the Beatitudes and the Church of the Multiplication. Then drive through the Judean Hills to Jerusalem, the Golden City, for overnight.
DAY 2 Jerusalem to Ashdod
Drive to Bethlehem and visit the Church of the Nativity. Return to Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives for an awe inspiring, panoramic view of the city. Walk down the Mount of Olives to the Church of Gethsemane. Long considered one of the most beautiful in Jerusalem, it was called the Church of all Nations because 16 nations contributed to its construction. Enter the Old City through the Dung Gate for a walking tour. See the Western Wall, the holiest site in Judaism and the only visible remains of the magnificent Second Temple. Walk the Way of the Cross, Via Dolorosa, to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. In 325 AD, Constantine’s mother Helen first requisitioned the area for a church. This 4th century church was largely destroyed by the Turks in 1009 AD, and partially restored in 1048 AD. The impressive stone decorations adorning the facade date from Crusader times. Lunch en route.
You will be transferred to the port in Ashdod to rejoin your cruise.
