Drive to the Akrotiri peninsula on the outskirts of Chania to visit the tomb of Eleftherios Venizelos. Venizelos was an eminent Greek revolutionary, who was elected several times as Prime Minister of Greece, serving from 1910 to 1920 and from 1928 to 1932. Venizelos had such profound influence on the internal and external affairs of Greece that he is credited with being "the maker of modern Greece.”
From this vantage point you will have a beautiful view of the entire town of Chania.
Continue to the Archaeological Museum of Chania, housed in the katholikon of the Venetian monastery of St. Francis. The Museum contains artefacts from the Minoan period, among others.
